COLLABORATION CARRIÈRE FRÈRES X LAURA GULSHANI

In this enchanted time of the year, Carrière Frères joins forces with the talented illustrator Laura Gulshani to give new impetus to her winter collection. Through three festive illustrations, Laura captures the warm spirit of Christmas by transporting us to friendly interiors, imbued with elegance and magic, in which slipped candles Carrière Frères.

Combining the authenticity of handmade candles with the contemporary touch of Laura Gulshani’s creations, Carrière Frères will unveil on December 5 on its social networks, an original video showing us, a little before the time, in the magic of Christmas.

THE COLLABORATION

The collaboration with Carriere Freres was close to Laura's heart - as a Canadian and a homebody, there's nothing more she loves in the winter months than to light a candle and curl up with a good book while watching as the snow falls outside. As Laura worked on each painting, she lit the corresponding candle as a way to be directly inspired by the warm scents. Her aim was to convey her personal love of the Christmas season through joyous colours and lots of details to communicate a familiar, festive scene. Imagining the scenes through marker sketches and putting the final touches on each heavily decorative painting were Laura's favourite parts of the creative process.

Her work consists of several models that Laura builds step by step to create a story. This collaboration, where craftsmanship meets art, and simplicity elevates the timeless magic of the holiday season. The perfect symbiosis between Carrière Frères and Laura Gulshani promises to transport every home into a festive ambiance filled with elegance and enchantment.

LAURA GULSHANI'S PORTRAIT

Laura Gulshani is a Canadian artist based in Paris, who grew up scribbling on walls, creating castles out of cardboard and doodling fashion designs on manga characters. After graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelors of Design in Fashion Communication, she worked as a writer before gradually deciding to become a full-time artist. Her lifelong appreciation for the arts and fashion naturally led her to combine the two interests and specialize as a fashion illustrator before branching out into other subject matter, such as landscapes, textile and packaging prints, and portraiture.

Laura's painterly universe consists of the imperfect renderings of people, places and things that sparked a passion within her. She developed her signature style through the use of textured brushstrokes, bright colours, an abundance of details and a mixture of various prints. Laura credits art movements such as Post-Impressionism, the Bloomsbury Group and the Nabis as early pivotal influences on her aesthetic, as well as fashion magazines and runway shows which inspired her to often interpret her subject matter from a fashion or beauty angle. Growing up in the forest-filled suburbs of Toronto and hiking every weekend, nature remains one of Laura's biggest sources of inspiration due to the peace and beauty it brings. Her apartment is filled with flowers, books on flowers, vases painted with flowers, and paintings of flowers.
